The herbal garden

In the spring 2005 HM Queen Sonja visited Agatunet and founded our herbal garden. The herb she panted was Angelica.

Angelica (Angelica archangelica) in Norwegian called Kvann has a long history in Norway. The use can be trased back to the vikings. From the 16th century angelica has a sentral place in both school medicine and folk medicine. The herbal garden includes many other historical food and medicine herbs. Some of them are used in the café.

In Agatunet you will find species of historical roses. There are also several fruit trees with old species of cherries, apples, pears and plums which now have become rare.
